A key word that you will see:

Fragmentation: a mental process where a person becomes intensely emotionally focused on one aspect of themselves, such as “I am angry” or “no one loves me,” to the point where all thoughts, feelings and behavior demonstrate this emotional state, in which, the person does not or is unable to take into account the reality of their environment, others or themselves and their resources. This is a term that my therapist and I use and is on the continuum of dissociation.

Is Homosexuality A Choice?

I think some people are more decided than others.

Some people who have had one orientation all their lives then can end up falling in love with someone from the other sex.

Some people are bi.

My guess is that people who come out as gay are more likely to feel they have no option - it is still usually costly to come up. So if it is an option people will probably take the option of not being gay/out.

I do think that some people are less committed in their sexuality than others. My guess is that they are a small minority. But I don't think we'll know until all sexualities are respected.

Evan, Thank you for your thoughtful commenting. I don't think that it is necessarily that some are more decided, but rather bisexual, as you indicated. I don't believe being gay or bisexual is a choice. I do believe that some people have sexual identity problems that lead to confusion and testing out which seems to fit best.
